U're all probably intrigued by the title but..indeed I have just lured you into another fabulous survey! lol, So what I wanted to know is, what food (as food is a very big part of my life ) along all of the fabulous journeys that you've taken did you absolutely LOVE and want to eat forever & ever & ever & ever & ever &ever......& well u get the picture.
Now I know that we're officially backpackers so we're forever saving money, but I'm sure that somewhere along the line we've all splurged on an absolute "to die for" food. So cough it up (no pun intended....) & tell me what it is! :greenguy:

Here is the States I would have to go with Jimboys as my favorite food. The biggest "splurge" I ever did was in Hong Kong, after being out at sea for 2 months. Me and my buddies went to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse and spent about $400.00 on food and drink for the four of us. But ohhhhhhh wow, it was heaven and it was well worth it!

What I really miss from France are the dark, DARK red bell peppers-- almost purple. They were so sweet, you could just straight bite into one like an apple! God do I miss those here. We would grab one of those and some tomatoes, some camembert and a baguette... yummy breakfast or lunch. And that's another thing-- the cheese over there was incredible. I've found really good goat cheese here, and good fresh mozzarella, but the brie and camembert are just not the same at all. And sooooooo much more expensive.

Alright, here are my food splurges by region, that are too hard to get or replicate at home... please note that most of these will kill you if taken in more than one serving.

Los Angeles - Kingburger w/ egg @ Fatburger - a simple pleasure in life.

Las Vegas - porterhouse steak @ Prime, Bellagio - simply the best steaks I've ever had, even better than Ruth's Chris. Don't ask about the price, just go.

San Diego - breakfast @ Hash House A Go Go - Who ever thought that a gay diner with a DJ spinning house tunes out front served the best, heaviest, most gut-busting breakfast ever?

St. Louis - "coniques" @ Morgan St. Brewery - they're these deep-fried mashed potato thingies. Deadly. Addictive with beer. Then head across the corner to Sundeckers for $1 baskets of kick-ass hotwings during happy hour.

New York - steak frites w/ escargot @ Jules Bistro, East Village. I could eat there every day, if my wallet or arteries could handle it.

Mexico - "chihuahua" tacos - You know, those $.25 tacos that taste so good, but there are dogs with missing limbs walking around the joint, so you have to wonder...

London - a proper Full English @ any pub - While they can get everything else right here, the rashers & bangers never compare.

Bristol - Chips & Curry - I still haven't found a better drunk food than the C&C at the little stands in Bristol. It's sucked everywhere else.

Dublin - Chips & Cheese - the 2nd best drunk food I've found in the Isles. Somehow, cheese fries here are NOT the same. You'd think it'd be easy to find steak chips with cheddar melted all over them, but nooooo.

Laragh - Guinness beef stew @ the Laragh Inn. A staggering 15e for a bowl, but reputed as the best in all of Ireland for good reason.

Paris - Oh god, where to start? So much damn good food there. I could eat fresh camembert & baguettes & wine for days on end, but then, I can get most of that here. So I'll go with the entrecôte (rib-eye steak) at, of course, Entrecôte. Not the flashy one on Champs-Elysées, but the more low-key (less touristy, cheaper) one at Les Halles. Yum yum yummy! Oh, and hot chocolate just about anywhere there. They take that shit seriously. Even better than the stuff at Ghirardelli.

Amsterdam - I've never found a falafel place better than Maoz by Centraal Station. (There's one in Barcelona, too, just north of Plaça Real.) And I haven't had so many good shawarmas - it's not the munchies talking, I swear! But if we're talking local food you can't get anywhere else, the pannekoeken (pancakes) cannot be beat.

Tarragona - a big-ass paella full of little pulpos (baby octopus), and a Catalan tiramisu for dessert. I still have dreams about this.

Barcelona - tapas, tapas, tapas, jamon serrano, tapas, rioja wine, tapas... good lord, is it any wonder I want to live there?

Osaka - okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake-like dish) at my aunt's cafe. MMmMMmmMmMMmmm!

There's at least one other one in Barcelona too, and I saw one in Nice and at least one (I think two) in Munich! I love their falafel with hummus.

New Orleans - EVERYTHING. I swear, I gained 10 lbs in a week there. I'll be going back this October. Trouble-a-brewin'!

In Dublin (well Blackrock/Stillorgan, really) at the intersection of Stillorgan Rd and Stillorgan Pkwy/Kilmacud Rd, there is a FANTASTIC fish and chips joint called Apriles (IIRC). They have the best cod fillets and chips&vinegar on the Island. Only place better I've found is Fish and Chips in Hollyhead, UK (which goes without saying IMO).

well I just realized that I forgot to add my lil tidbit on my fave food! aaaaaaah well I havent done much traveling myself....and from where I have traveling to be honest the food wasnt exactly fabulous so Im just going to list my fav food, the best of which happens to be conveniently located in downtown toronto hehe.

I LOVE DIM SUM. with a passion. that consumes my soul. forever. and ever. and ever.

and there is this fab place downtown, located on spadina called the bright pearl. if any of you ever travel to toronto I would highly recommend it. of course if u come call me up & I'll definitely eat it with you!!!!!!!!! lol so yeah, that's my opinion.....ugh why did I mention it! Now im thinking about it and wanting it even though it's like an hour away.......oh but do I ever want it......... poo

I am huge on food too, which is the only reason why I ever head to France besides the history. That place has the best food in the world (specifically Paris). I never ate so much food in my whole life, but simply put, I never spent so much money on food in my whole life either.

Anyway, if you ever head to Nice, France in the Riveara, I suggest you shoot down Boulverd des Anglais and look for a place called Le Quebec. It's a pizza parlor that has the best pizza in the world. Better than all the pizza parlors throughout Italy. I think I orgasmed 3x times while I was eating my Reigne pizza. The portions were huge (very American) and rather normally priced. They have an unbelievable house red wine, I suggest you purchase a bottle if you can.

Alright in Paris I have this really really rich friend that lives there. We went to the resteraunt on the Eiffele Tower. Anyway, I know it's really dumb, but that place had the best food in Paris in my opinion. Our dinner for 3 was 1.2k American, but fortunately I didn't pay a dime. The liquor was what made it so expensive my dish was only $90, from what I remember. I had this delicious medium rare steak that really melted in my mouth. Much better than any shitty Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (sorry but I really hate that place, over priced and not good meat, IMO). So if you have the cash go there. Anyway, typing this is making me hungry so, bye bye.
