i mean foods like---cheese whiz filled celery, or egg nog and coffee, jello with carrots and celery in it, blue jello with blueberry pie filling it. canned spaghetti with cottage cheese----------everyone has to have at least one bad dish

juliagulia 11-23-2005 07:23 AM

i'm afraid not.... we have yams with brown sugar and marshmellows but.... i think that sounds pretty sane... o_O

bluepea 11-23-2005 08:13 AM

I can't really think of any either.

PlayPal 11-23-2005 10:05 AM

Um...nope, me either. The only bad dish I find is any empty one...

PlayPal 11-23-2005 10:08 AM

Er...wait. This just in: You guys will probably think this is weird, but it's THAAA BOMB! My mom makes a shrimp jello dish with tomato sauce, pectin(gelatin), shrimp, celery, and some other stuf. The best part: She puts it in a fish-shaped mold. Has absolutely nothing to do with thanksgiving tradition, but it's AWESOME. Sounds gross, but it's good. Let me know if you want the recipe. Damnit, I told you it's good. It is!

TheJake 11-23-2005 11:14 AM

That does sound rather um.. enticing...

Seriously man does it taste like shrimp or what? Seems like an odd mix of flavors!

chelseafc05 11-23-2005 10:26 PM

wat the hell is egg nog? heard of it numerous occasions but never bothererd to find out wat it is...

nedarb5 11-23-2005 10:30 PM

the fattiest, thickest drink you'll ever come accross. its liquid artery clogger but its soooo good haha. sometimes mixed with spiced rum during the holidays, to tell you the truth i have no idea whats actualy in it other then eggs and nutmeg

chelseafc05 11-23-2005 10:49 PM

liquid artery clogger .. all artery clogging foods are gooood :snack:

TheJake 11-23-2005 11:14 PM

yeah mostly raw eggs, milk, nutmeg and some other additives.

You could probably find a good recipe and make yourself some! You would be a holiday hit!

nedarb5 11-24-2005 12:48 PM

the start selling it earlier and earlier each year, out here it was before halloween haha, i remember when you could only get in in december

simply_angelic 11-24-2005 12:53 PM

blech, eggnog is g-ross! But yeah, I'm happy to say no weird holiday foods at my house either, just delicious cakes, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad...mmmmmmmm....I LOVE the holidays...

btw wong name, what kind of holiday food is your family feeing you, ya poor fool? jello with carrots and celery in it? I dont even want to know..... :doctor:

Well, tonite we had the usuals. But my uncle provided recently deceased wild goose which was awesome (even though it was a bit overcooked.)Just had to watch out for birdshot!!

And then my cousin I can't stand did the typical green bean casserole with canned cream of mushroom soup and those insipid fried shoetring potatoes. God, I hate that shit. Her mom made her standard Jello mold, consisting of a pan she purchased during the Carter administration filled with various uncooked fruits and nuts and a metric shit ton of Jello.... Hello, 1978 called- they want your Jello mold back, and they have a Harvey Wallbanger for you in its place!

Anyway, fun stuff. Drank beer, told dirty jokes. My uncle loaded me up on Venison and Goose from earlier this season. I'm braising some tomorrow for the post-Turkey Day Leftover Bonanza!

Ya know, it's funny you mention that crap. Until yesterday, never in my LIFE have I seen that god-awful stuff at a Thanksgiving dinner. And last night --I had 3 dinners to attend  -- I saw it at TWO of them. :yuk:

Joker 11-25-2005 11:09 PM
