Hey all. I read an excerpt and description of this book the other day. It just came out this week and seems tailored to the travel-oriented folk, such as ourselves. It's called "The Devil's Picnic" and the concept seems really damn cool, plus it has the gross out factor. The concept is that this writer travelled around the world trying all of these types of food and drink that are illegal in the country where they originated.

This is some of the stuff the guy tries:
"an aperitif of hjemmebrent, a powerful Norwegian moonshine; a wedge of Époisses, a stinky French cheese that can carry a brain-swelling bacteria; a cup of restorative Bolivian cocaine tea" plus bull's testicles in Madrid and probably a lot more.

Anyway, it seemed tailor-made for these boards and I think it offers a clever new way to plan a trip (around illegal food, not the most practical or healthy, but clever). I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, but I might sometime soon.

And where, pray tell, would TP's official Kitchen Pirate find a copy of said book? :D

Well, I don't know. It seems like it might be found in any reasonably sized book store. It wasn't at the bookstore in my neighbourhood, but I think they said they had tons of copies in their other locations.
