It's a syrup (xarope) made by gooseberry. But you can substitute for another sweet thing!

Hey Eric! After I read what Roz wrote I remembered that day you blew up a strawberry drink you made before the New Year's party! And we drank it so fast that your bro threw up! Good times!

Someone mentioned Dr. Pepper earlier on... I'm pretty familiar with that, but we do it a little differently in the Carolinas...we call it "Flaming Dr. Pepper" and instead of a shot of Amaretto, it's a shot of bacardi 151 topped with a little bit of amaretto, then lit on fire. Then, you drop it into the beer, and down it. It's really good...and really accellerates the process.
As a college kid, my drink of choice (when I don't have any money) is "the beast," or Milwaukee's Best Light. It's $9.99 American in Carolina for a case of 24, and once you get used to it, it isn't that bad. You learn to ignore the metallic aftertaste after a while. If i do have money, however, it doesn't get better than Sam Adams.
However, if i'm REALLY poor, i might drink some MD 20/20, otherwise known as Mad Dog...costs about 3.50 for a bottle, and will REALLY screw you up. It doesn't taste half bad, either, if you put it on ice. Do they have anything like that in Europe...nice, cheap, bum wine?

I know I must have posted some of my favs. here before, but hey it's just like beer, you just keep on coming back to it, again and again and again. So here they go gain:
- Beers: Sapporo, Heineken, Corona with salt and lime, Rolling Rocks in the beach, microbrewed ales in the west coast.
- Vodka martinis: various kinds, cosmos, sour apples, cocoa, nothing like vodka... especially with an authentic salvadorean or cuban dish and cuban cigars!
- Speaking of latin food: authentic Sangrias, Cuba Libres, Caipirinhas (various derivations of it), Margaritas on the rocks - none too sweet, extra, extra lime, a touch of salt.
- Portos, Drambuis - anything deep, dark, dense, sweet...
- Brandy Alexanders on the rocks...
- Wines and Sparkling wines/champagnes - I prefer drier wines, but also enjoy fruitier and spicier versions depending on food...
More to come...
btw - CD, love your Dr. Pepper idea!

Ahhhh, one of my favorite reasons for going to Europe, the cheap and excellent beers. My favorites
Netherlands- it does not get much better than a fresh Heineken from the tap. Grolsch is also excellent
Belgium-Where to start? The beers are unlike beer anywhere else. Almost like wine. Very high in alcohol content with most being 8% or higher. Most beers come in their own special glass. Delirium and Stella Artois are two great ones.
Czech Republic-Everything I have had here I have liked except for Budvar. Favorites are Staropramen, Velvet (think czech guiness), Pilsner Urquell
Germany-In the north you have the interesting Berliner beers that taste like candy. In Bavaria there is the fantastic Paulaner and Hauftbrahaus
Spain-Not a country really known for beer, but nothing goes down better than a San Miguel on a hot day
Poland-There known for their vodka, but Zwytec(sp?) is my alcohol beverage of choice
There are many other good beers available all over such as Carlsberg and others. In Sweden beware as beer in super markets are usually only 2.5-3.0 % and in bars they are very expensive.
I don't mean to sound like an alcoholic, I just like to sample the local brews while travelling.

I'm a big fan of southern comfort and sprite... also triple sec and cranberry or vodka and cranberry (grey goose I like best). as for beer, I just recently tried killian's red, and I liked it a lot, suprisingly. budwieser goes down smoothly, but all in all, I am a coors light fan. or just a big alcohol fan!

I had a drink in a bar called a "fat ho on a bike". I laughed about the name forever but then I looked it up and found that it is actually all over... it is composed of 1 oz. amaretto, 1 oz. tequilla and 2 oz. coke. not a bad drink, but a real funny name lol! I've also had a purple hooter and a buttery nipple. At the bar at my school, the owner, who we all lovingly call pops, if it's your 21st, pops will buy you a shot which is called "bloody brains" which is red and chunky... I still don't know what's in it, but I suspect there are tequilla worms in it... haha whatever. can't be scared.
