I think VB holds up ok, and Toohey's isn't bad, but you guys HAVE to do something about Foster's being the international standard-bearer for Aussie beer. At least move up to XXXX. You can say it's "Twice as good as Dos Equis."

Yeah.... VB seemed to be Australia's Budweiser. Pretty popular...but not very tasty. Tooey's was better. I was a bit disappointed by the general lack of variety in beers at most pubs I went to (and I mean no disrespect to Australians). I ended up drinking more Stella than anything when I was over there, and I do not really think Stella is all that great either...but its better than VB. The beer is potent over there though......not like the wimpy 4%ish beer in the U.S.
Strange how Fosters is huge outside Australia, but is considered lower than piss inside Australia. Just like Corona and Mexico.

You're totally right. I've yet to see Fosters on tap anywhere over here. The marketing is brilliant though, I expected it to be everywhere. It is, "Australian for beer" after all. Either way, in Australia I found Small Creatures to be my fave and so far in NZ I like Export Gold.
The testing continues though..

Yeah, that is strange how Fosters is our international beer, it is f*cking terrible. Tooheys is my favorite by far. I can't wait to see what the beers in other countries taste like.

Carlton Draught on tap.
James Boag Premium for bottles.
I would say try those for Aussie beers. But I have no idea about the chances of finding either of those outside of Australia.
Fosters? I can't remember the last time I saw anyone drink a Fosters beer.

Nobody here drinks Fosters. It seems that they have marketed it really well overseas but - when I was travelling many people asked if I drunk it.

Fosters used to be big in Australia years ago, but seemed to have died off. It's hard to find it even in bottle shops. In fact on my birthday a couple of months ago we found a carton of tallies (800ml) so we bought it mainly because none of us had ever drank fosters before, and thought it would be good to have a few fosters bottles around the house as momentos. I ripped a side off the carton and now have it on my wall as a momento to Australia's beer! hahaha.
It's true though, it is crap.
I'm a Tooheys Extra Dry (TED) man myself.

YeahI liked the Tooheys a lot while I was over there. I think I went for Tooheys old and new about equal. When I just wanted something simple but good tasting I went for VB, but then again I like Buds and Millers and stuff so that might be why.

Another one, I forget the name of it but it just came in a big two liter bottle. I alot of pubs served them for like parties of r or something like that.
Anyone know the name? I am pretty sure it was a big brown bottle.

Yeah that is the name of the stuff. I had it right on my mind but couldn't quite get it right. I only had it one night and it was at last call so me and some people I met that night all got it so that we could pound a few quick drinks before heading back home. Yeah they were not the greatest drinks but we had them fast enoguh so they were still plenty cold. Tasted kind of bland though.
