I had some roasted wild boar today that was absolutely amazing! I wasn't a big meat eater until some years back when I really started traveling and began to really appreciate different foods....and drinks Today I also had some blackberry wine, that was pretty good. Also tried Belikin for the first time a few days ago, which is the local beer. Not bad, certainly better than most common american brews (i'm a big Bitburger and Guiness fan myself, and love a McEwans Scottish Ale). Haven't tried the stout yet or the ale, but will report on those soon!

So what different kinds of meats and drinks have you folks tried that you found really good...???

Roast suckling pig in Madrid that was so good it made me feel guilty.

I think I had goulash half a dozen times in five days while in Austria and the Czech Republic, and it was always pretty good.

Out in Eastern Europe I figured I would try some wild game type food since it can be quite costly here in the States, but is quite cheap in certain restaurants over there. I had duck, wild boar, and rabbit. I was dissapointed by the duck, but the rabbit was pretty good and as you said roasted wild boar is very good.

I used to live in Montana when I was a kid, and we either killed or grew our food. I've had my fair share of elk, deer, bear, rabbit, some sort of snake once or twice (I wasn't asking too many questions) and god knows what else. Elk is probably the best one of the bunch, IMO, but it's been years since I've had it.

Yeah, Elk is pretty good. When I lived in North Dakota I had Elk and Bison - both very good. I've had rattlesnake which isn't bad. I like Deer meat when its made into sausage. I don't care for rabbit much, I think I ate too much of it when I was in Malta.

Moose is really good, I had it in a barley soup. Deer (venison) is great, i've grown up on it, i love it prepared all sorts of ways. Buffalo Burger is really good. Alligator is good, Quail is also very good. Pheasant is good although it sometimes tastes a little gamey. My grandfather made me eat squirrel once, i though it was chicken, it was ok, but never again.

I had loads of alligator last sunday night, probably one of my few refuges from sausage and crawish in bloody Louisiana Nah, it was all good, although I'm super fat now after a week of the all-fat diet.

For last year's company trip, we went to Santa Fe, NM, and just about EVERY good restaurant had wild game on the menu. So my friends and I all sampled roast boar, venison medallions, elk filets, braised quail - you name it. Normally I'm a bit wary of game because it's, well, gamey, but none of the stuff had an offensive smell to it at all. And I'm pretty picky about that.

Oh well - coupled with a good just about anything is deliciious! (Census-taker's liver with fava beans and a nice chianti, anyone?)

I got tricked again! My family tends not to tell me what some meat is, because sometimes it tends to be from my aunts farm and well im a true beliver in not eating anything that has tasted me first and most of her animals have indeed tasted me. Anyways, I had goat, it was good, very tender, Id recomend trying it.

However, after this last time I think im not eating anything until my fam tells me exactly what it is!

Goat sounds interesting, certainly would try it. I love goat cheese!

Over the weekend I sort of got tricked into eating pigs dick...it was a mental trip, and I couldn't finish it.
