When I was in Italy, I got really hooked on these Olive Oil & Rosemary Crostinis. They come in yellow packages and have the crostini and rosemary picture in front. If you're there, be sure to pick up a bag in the supermarket. I loved them! And I would buy 2 bags at a time and carry them in my day pack and that would be my meal(s)! I miss them! :) :thumbup:

Yeah, must be something about italian food...

I ate about a million ham and cheese paninis.

They were just sooo tasty, and they just seemed to be available everywhere.

The local and spicy food in SW China (Guizhou Province). Hands-down the BEST food I've ever had in MY LIFE! It was AMAZING. SOOOO GOOD! And stuff you'll never find anywhere else...sigh. :crybaby:

i'd actually like to think i have a "food epiphany" coming. probably after more travel through asia and/or the middle east.

other than that - i really liked this coconut-milky pink drink with little jellies and other fruits i had in indonesia - they served it in a clear plastic bag with a fat straw. it was funny to drink and really sweet.

I agree with you here.....

I know that mine will come in either of those two places....

Middle-East: some absolutely amazing falaffel or hummus stand

Asia: Some little road side vender selling the best food ever for 45 cents


My best to date has been in Portugal....almost every restaurant i went to had a vegetarian soup......with a creamy cheesy broth and other misc. vegetables in it....It was so good, and SO SO healthy (which also made it good)......

Hey, I've had one of those really scrummy soups! OMG! Was it as good for you as it was for me? ha ha.
I love trying out the food when I'm somewhere different.

My faves are :

India : Bananna lassie - a really delicious fresh fruit milshakey drink!
Plus, a shark curry! Yum....

Greece : I can't remember what it was called, but it was a stuffed aubergine dish.

Scotland : Tatty scones. (I could eat them til they came out of my ears!)

But, my fave food of all time, is chinese! never been to the place, but, love the food. :)

cookin in the hostel kitchen! the most social place - like everyone is just hangin round cookin so you just start talking. damn this bastard in my hostel got this czech chick to cook a meal for him last night!

having said this in 3 weeks ive been livin off 99p cheeseburgers and cookin my pasta - the uk is an expensive place to eat or anything really

If you're in Spain you can live on wine, they have some of the best. I wasn't impressed with France even though they have such a reputation for their cuisine. Germany is without doubt the best place to eat, everything is cooked fresh and they have strong restrictions against any kind of preservatives or artificial additives (no wonder everyone looks so healthy), i didn't go wrong anywhere in that country. There's a small restaraunt in the old section of barcelona that serves chicken catalan, a chicken in plum sauce with pine nuts, it's incredible. if you can find it, you're in for something special.

AdamTheCultured, I'm so bummed I didn't try any of those veggie soups in Portugal, and you know what? I almost did, but then I decided to have something else... Being a vegetarian, sometimes it's hard to find eats in Europe, but next time I'm back in Portugal, I shall certainly indulge in their soups too!

I also loved the street crepes in Paris!

The Moroccan style falafels in Granada were awesome, but you have to get them in the Moroccan village!

Stuffed and fried olives in Italy.

Sparkling wine in Italy.

Hand made noodles in hot broth w/ shredded veggies off of midnight street vendors in Seoul, S. Korea.

Swiss chocolate!!!!

I might've mentioned this already, somewhere else, but I had these things last summer, they were so wonderful mmmm better than fries. Indian food, I think, called Picoras or Picaros or something like that...they were little pastries with cheese inside and I believe they either had potato or cauliflower inside aswell....I didn't pay attention I just ate 'em...mmmmm

garlic hummus, falafal (sp?) in Cairo, and amazingly fresh seafood (everything!) in Alexandria! It's cool to be on the Mediterranean in Africa people; similar yet different feel than Europe on the Med!

strange, french fries in france with french mayo. its not like the cheap stuff you find here in the usa. it has garlic and other spices and a lot more flavorful. best snack i ever had

there was what I could only describe as a "sandwich" shop right across the street from my hotel in Florence. OH MY GOOOOD!! it was the culinary highlight of my life and I've lived with a freakin chef. Oh man, they were so simple but so good, I must have had 20 different kinds of things in 4 days, it rocked.

Also I had the best ravioli of my life at a sidewalk restaurant outside the Vatican that I found by accident....man, that flavor could never be duplicated.

I love food......ahhh
