I was wondering what the nightlife was like in Mancheser, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dublin. A lot of house/techno/hiphop/dance or...not. I heard that Manchester is filled with just about only Indy Music clubs and stuff like that. Anyone been to these places? Thanks!

Dublin's got a little bit of everything. Mostly "mainstream" type clubs, but if you look around, you can find anything - from excellent, free live venues to dark, loud, subterranean goth rocker hangouts.
I haven't been to the others, but Manchester's definitely got a club scene. (The whole acid house thing started @ Hacienda there, after all.) The only big-name thing I can think of there is Sankey's Soap, which has played host to many a good event from everything I've read.

I think you will find a club to suit just about everyone in these citys, here are some links
http://www.itchyedinburgh.co.uk/
the site is a bit hard to work out but it lists loads of different clubs and bars, there are also plenty of not so big places in here if you fancy getting away from where all the tourists go. the same company do some good small books on the citys, and they are a great reference if you enjoy drinkin and eating, first thing i look at when i go to a new city in the UK.

Glasgow for clubs, Edinburgh for pubs is the general rule of thumb.
For cheap and cheerful clubs in Edinburgh, try Subway West End or Revolution, both on Lothian Road. For fancy dan pubs and clubs, George Street (except for Standing Order) is the place. Pubs - many of them everywhere. I'm told Cafe Royal is popular with backpackers as it is beside one of the hostels.
Glasgow, been out a few times but couldn't really pass much judgement. It isn't actually much of a tourist destination, nor is Manchester. If you like cities and clubbing then they may be good, but for history and sights to see they may be a tad limited.
Manchester was famous for the indy scene (The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis amongst others), but as someone said, they will have something to meet your club tastes as its a big place.
Dublin - only been for one night but seems very good! Think it may be a pub over club place like Edinburgh.

Sounds perfect, AAA! Hopefully those prices will remain steady through next spring and I can hit that up. £1.50 RBVs? Holy crap!

No way is Manchester only full of indie clubs!
We have probably one of the best clubs in the UK – (next to Fabric in London) Sankey Soap, http://www.tribalgathering.co.uk/ which hosts some of the best tribal, techno, tech house, breaks, and house nights. If you want me to name drop Eric Marillo, Carl Cox, 2Many DJs, Plump DJs, Groove Armada, Chemical Brothers, have all played there/will be playing there soon to name a few.
Check out http://www.ents24.com/ for listings

Yeah, yeah, I already listed Sankey's in the first response to this thread I'd kill to see Groove Armada live again... almost booked a trip there just to see them when they were there. God, does that make me an utter fool or what?

Yeah, but you see, that's not so crazy... San Francisco is nowhere NEAR Manchester.
Yet I'm still heading out there in March to catch Depeche Mode at the MEN. I'm fairly certain I'm a downright mong when it comes to the combination of music and travel.

Here's a link to club events that night via Manchester Online. You can also use that site to search other types of things going on by date.

With that being a week night, youre best off sticking to the Student part of town - Oxford Road. Its a short walk from the city centre but start off in one of the bars down there like Kro2, Font or Space then see where all the students end up.
Sub Space, 42nd Street and 5th Ave are all good for a fun night out
