I am searching for some guidebooks that concentrate on the nightlife in Europe. I was browsing amazon and I found two. Anyone ever read these? If so, are these worth purchasing?

Haven't heard of those, but hands down, whenever I go someplace, I pick up the "TimeOut" book for that city. Since they're based on the weekly magazine by the same name, their info is accurate, up-to-date, and it's edited by young, hip folks who're in the know about the club/bar scenes. As a bonus, they double as general travel books so they have all the sites to see, insider tips, and all that doo-da. Highly recommended.
For more "party" info, you can get it for free at pubclub.com

In the past, be it Europe or N. America, I've always relied on starting a conversation with a hip looking local and acking them where they go. I never ask cab drivers or people who work as the receptionists at the hotel - they will tell you the most tourist frequented spot, which is usually the most expensive one. There is nothing like a good out-of-the-way jazz club or a discoteque close to the local university where all the students go. So far it's worked for me.

I used a copy Party Europe on my trip. It was well worth it. Without a doubt pick up a copy. Not only does the book cover many places, but each review goes into great detail. I went to some amazing bars and clubs that I am sure I would have never found had it not been for Party Europe. Before I even arrived in a city, I would already have tons of bars and clubs I would not want to miss. Besides things to do at night, the book also has some great ways to have fun and party during the day. I highly recommend it.

I know Party Europe had nothing about Eastern Europe but the guide is still well worth it for anyone going to Western Europe.

I know that this is kind of an old post but I bought a copy of Party Europe 2005 of Half.com and was rather dissapointed that it didn't cover even one city in Eastern Europe. Just throught I would throw that out there. It seemed like a pretty good guide to nightlife in western Europe however.
