help!oktoberfest accomodation?

it seems non exsistant already:confused: !!! i've been waiting on my travelling buddy to sort his shit out and now it seems accomodation is gonna cost a fortune! Wombats don't open bookings till june so i could wait and try get accomodation there when the clock strikes 12:01 but im worried if i miss out then even the expensive hotels and packages available to me now will be gone:confused: anyone had ne experience? got ne suggestions?

Book now or wait for wombats. I stayed at Jagers next door to wombats and it was 30 euro a now for a **40** bed dorm. It won't be cheap anywhere. For Oktoberfest itself 3 days is more than enough. Go back later and see the sights when its cheaper. I booked my beds in may and barely got into the 40 bed dorm...

You may wish to consider buying a tent at the department store and then heading out to Camping Thalkirchen. It worked reasonably well for me and my travel buddies. They have a shuttle bus to the Oktoberfest grounds on a regulary basis and the camp grounds have a good drinking culture too.

ya ill be there as well with nowhere nothing planned as far as a place to sleep is concerned

At Wombat's theoretically you can sleep in the Winter Garden and I know you can score a shower from them.

Anyone can walk in off the streets. There's no card swipe or lock. Just walk straight pass the reception, like you own the place, and into the winter garden (place with all the beanbag chairs) and make yourself comfy. The 2nd floor has showers for sure (other floors may have them but I never checked), and I have used them twice without being a guest at Wombats. Both times I used them they were unlocked but if they're not just ask a passing guest (there's bound to be tons of them right?). Tell them the truth or tell them you lost your key and they should open it for you. There's always the option of asking reception but I've had spotty luck with reception allowing me to have showers when I'm not a guest.

If you get kicked out of Wombat's the train station is a hop away so just crash there.

Time to revive this thread as I am most likely going to Oktoberfest this year. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So.... where do people sleep? Any recommended places? Any good ways to avoid paying with your arms and legs?

I slept in a park when I went - wouldn't do it now, but at the time it was a grand idea....until it started raining

Tpunks!

So I came to Oktoberfest, I saw but I was definitely conquered by all that BEER -- what an epic time. And I stayed at THE TENT, a hostel near the Bontanical Gardens in Munich. Very nice place. I would definitely recommend.

Oktoberfest lived up and exceeded my very high expectation was the best festival I have ever been to so far!!! YEAH BABY! :)
