My sister came to visit me for a few days over the weekend, and we had a great time, the atmosphere in Cologne for the world cup is fantastic. eveyone we have met has been so friendly and just here for a good time. we must have met people of at least 10 nationalities.
Theres 2 big screens, one next to the cathedral and another at the other end of the pedestrian area. they are also building another one on the banks of the river because they have been so popular. We watched the england match at one of them on saturday, and it was great. you cant take any food or drinks in with you which sucked a bit, but €2.50 for a beer (a bit smaller than a pint i think, £1.75ish) isnt too bad, i was expecting it to cost more. £2 for a glass of water though!
and it was well over 30 degrees celsius!
anyway heres a few pics, nothing very interesting though, we were pretty drunk:

Me and my sister:
My sister with a Brazilian (i am sure he couldnt speak english or german, and my sister cant speak portuguese, so we have no idea how they were communicating! like i said we were drunk...)
Some scousers we met in a pub
Theres been so many england fans around, but they are expecting 120,000 for the match here on tuesday! should get a bit
I was out on wednesday night as well to watch the Germany match, just went to a pub in the student area. a great game, and i have to admit i was a germany fan for the night - i was the only foreigner in the pub
. then we went outside after the match and the street outside was closed off and there must have been 10-15 thousand people celebrating the win. really amazing. will be interesting to see what its like if they win the world cup!
