Default Cheap in Sept/Oct.

Weird question.

I'm going to be backpacking the AT next year from april->Sept.ish and I dont start my new job until January. I'm looking for somewhere to go that I can chill for a few months that is cheap. I dont mind living in a tent etc., I just dont want to be stuck at my parents house for 3 months after living in the woods for 6. (I havent lived with them since 12 years ago) I'll probably have about $5-6000 to last me 3 months.... I would prefer somewhere warm... Any ideas?

By "AT" are you talking about the Appalachian Trail? Give us some more specifics

Yes, the appalachian trail.

I dont know what other specifics. I have a passport. I've been to Brazil, England and Iceland. I'm just looking for somewhere cheap to stay for a few months where I can lounge around and do nothing in particular...

So... are you looking to stay domestic or international? If international, how far are you willing to travel etc....

I'll go anywhere... travel expenses will have to factor into the equation though.

I'd be heading to Thailand and Cambodia. Things are so cheap its rediculous. I'm heading that way in 10 months or so. You could also hit eastern europe. Especially Croatia and Romania. Quite cheap and fucking amazing countries. Hope this helps a bit

yeah head out to south east asia. i am going in 2 weeks can get you some details about places to stay. i know you can rent a house 9a big one) for about £100 a month so a flat will cost you nothing. if your want to stay for 3 months on that budget you could travel around a lot. a bed in a dorm in KL (malaysia) i know places that are £1.50 a night!! well cheap.

if you want more info about SE Asia let us know i can check it out for you. also where are you flying from and flying back too after your time is up - flights are quite a lot to SE Asia the cheapest place to fly into is probably bangkok (thailand) or singapore. but the price of the flight doesnt matter as you will still have sooo much cash for food rent and travelling.

i go SE Asia every year and have done a 4 month stint out there on £700. that was travelling around eating and sleeping in dorms and the like.
