so i'm planning my trip and i leave a month from today so i decided i should figure out where exactly i wanted to go. My question is should i go france italy spain or should i go france italy and then head over to hungary and austria... cause i want to go to all of them but i don't think i'll have time to make it to spain and hungary and austria. So any opinions of which are the better places to go would be soooo appreciated!

Well it really depends on what sort of person YOU are...they're both amazing places, just different. Personally, I'd go to hungary and austria, just because you'd have a more well rounded trip...but if you threw portugal into the spain mix, I'd do spain & portugal (I really do love portugal ), but that's just me and everyone's different. I'd go with a good 'ol pro/con list stating everything you're looking for in a trip & which of the places have it.

Yeah, I agree that's a tough call - it really would depend on your particular interests. One advantage of going to Austria & Hungary is that you'd get a bit of a taste of eastern/central Europe, which is pretty different from what you'd see in France and Italy. On the other hand, in Spain, you get the Moorish influence, which is also amazing. Austria and Hungary are much smaller, so you could probably see more without traveling as far, but Spain offers so much in one country - deserts, mountains, cities, beaches...

I've spent time in both, and I'd have to spend a long time deciding which to visit, if I were in your shoes... a list of pros and cons is a good start. But I agree, I don't think you could do justice to both regions in the limited time you have.

That really didn't help at all, did it?

you really shouldn't be so hard on yourself, i did in fact find it helpful....believe it or not. I am thinking about doing eastern europe a bit and hoping i have a chance to go to spain some other time.... it's sad a month seems like a long time but when you are writing out an itinerary it really isn't that long

Oh good, I'm always glad to hear my ramblings help someone else make sense of their life! Now that you've narrowed it down, fire away with any questions on eastern Europe - lots of us know and love the area - we can fill up that month in no time!

It is sad, isn't it, when you think about how long the last month of school is, or the month before leaving on a trip, it's forever, but a month of traveling is gone in a minute. Ah well, you just have to take advantage of every minute.
