Galway has an airport. Taking the airplane to the Aran Islands is fun (because the pilots are crackers) they don't have an airport but that doesn't stop them landing planes there.

Cork has an airport

There's one beside Kilarney

never saw this topic before but have had several layovers in the Shannon airport, and had a lovely stay every time.

I don't have any stories but there's a good surfing community, there was even some 3 day surfing festival this year. The surfing had to be called off though the ocean got too rough.

There's supposed to be great surfing all along the west coast as long as you don't mind the cold. The last week we've been getting 10 metre/feet (I wasn't really listening all to much when it was on the news) in Galway/Mayo.
