This was the best hostel of our trip. The people running it set the mood: friendly and helpful. Their two maltese dogs are the cutest things you'll ever see and you'll want to pack one to take home! All the other people we met at this place in our room were also the best of our trip. It's located off Via Nazionale, a few blocks west of Plazza Republica. It was only 20 euros! Such a deal. Super clean and yummy free breakfast croissants.

thanx for the info! :thumbup: what did you think of rome compared to other cities you may have visited in italy? i've been told to keep my trip short in rome, just long enough to see the historical sites, and then try to spend more time in venice, florence, etc.. any input??

I would definately give Rome 3 days, for a big touristy city it has a good personality, and there is a lot to see. Must go to trastevere (In Rome)to eat, it is awesome
I am a fanatic about the sea, so I really enjoyed the coast towns, sorrento, and cinque terre were awesome. the whole almalfi coast is awesome. Also loved venice. Florence is cool but mostly its shopping and museums.
Another suggestion of mine is to go to some random small town and soak up the culture, if you are the only American (or foreigner, anyways) in the place, people really want to talk to you and you get to see the real country, not the tourist stuff. its more difficult to get around, but worth it.
