Well, I wanted to post a topic about my true love, Chicago, Illinois. In fact, I am leaving for Chi-town tomorrow and will return sometime in mid-July. My best friend lives out in the 'burbs, so I go there at least 5 times a year, and plan on going to DePaul to law school, and living out there. I love it lots.

Anyway, anyone go there, live there, or interested?

Of all of the sights of Chicago, I reccommend going to a Cubs game. The Cubs fans are a different beast, and it's great. Wrigleyville itself is fantastic. Get a can of Old Style beer... it's a classic.

Watertower place is a great place to shop downtown -- and has a great food court.

A cool place for cheap and hip furniture is at Ikea, which isn't technically Chicago, it's in Schaumburg... http://www.ikea.com This place furnished the Real World houses.

Good luck getting tickets to see Oprah!

I think the Shedd Aquarium is a rip off. Navy Pier is always great. Take a water taxi back to the train station even if it is a bit pricey (6 bucks one way)... it's great. Eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. There's a lot of great comedy clubs, a few get some famous people like those from Blue Collar, and Wanda Sykes. Lincoln Park always shows outdoor movies (like in the Wedding Planner)....they're doing an Audrey movie in August.... my all time favorite... Roman Holiday!

Anyway, anyone have any experiences from Chicago/'burbs?

There are places like Detroit for food... and we have our own pizza too... yeah.

Yeah, I love Chicago.. I head out there a few times a year just for the pizza. Granted we can get authentic chicago style here in the D... I just have to represent and go to the windy city (which Detroit has the same average wind speed as chicago) to get some Chi-town style pizza... however haven't been to a ball game there yet... been thinking about it though.

Byler,

I am from Chicago and live 2 minutes from De Paul. In my opinion Chicago is one of the best places to live in the U.S. I know I may catch some grief about that comment but no other city has people with stronger ties to each other for just being from here. If you do decided to move to Chicago let me know and I can help out with getting you a place near De Paul.
