Default Gatlinburg/Smokey Mtns.

Hi everyone,

My brother, his wife, and their 14-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter are going to rent a cabin in the Smokey Mtns./Gatlinburg area. Any suggestions on what they should do? Or other inside tips?

wow I don't know how I missed this thread and they've prolly already gone but in the event someone else needs info, here's my 2 cents...

I went a few years ago and it was kind of the vacay from hell to be honest. Our cabin was nice (we stayed in Pigeon Forge) but it was all amusement parks and flea malls. So there's that to do. Gatlinbug is nice - we shopped there and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. If you have kids, Dollywood is a fun place for them (if you can get over the fact you're going to Dollywood). If you get tired of flea malls and outlet malls, Knoxville was like 45 min away and had a very nice mall and some good restaurants.

That's all I've got.

the smokey mountains. what a beautiful area. i spent a good week and a half driving from the uppper part of georgia to maine hiking state high points along the way. Clingman's Dome is the highest point in the smokeys and also the highest point in tennesse. it's slightly a touristy thing and the view isn't spectacular, but you can say you've been there. this is the only suggestion i have aside from the obvious...hiking! good luck finding info.:D
