Hello all...
I am leaving in at the end of May for my European trek. My dad and I are flying into amsterdam (should be an interesting few days...) and from there we will go (hopefully by rental car) to Frankfurt (hopefully stoping by belguim to pick up a few chocolates). My dad has a small game convention in Bacharach, which we will be attending (free room, food, and beer). After that I will be driving down to the Aix-en-Provence in France with one of his friends. The other places I want to hit up are
1. Cinque Terra
2. Venice (with possible day trip to Pordenone, I have distant family there)
3. Budapest
4. Prague (also some family history)

I am planning on coming home early to mid july. Does this sound like a good plan? I will have about a week in each place...should my trip be longer? Also...will 2500 euros be enough?

Any advice would be great

A week in each place should be enough - in fact, that's pretty ideal. It's those 2-3 day whilrlwind jaunts into each city that I feel are shortchanging travelers. A week is fantastic, as a matter of fact.

Naturally, the longer a trip is, the better and more in-depth it'll be, as long as you can afford it. So if you can, I don't see any reason NOT to go longer, and I don't think anyone here would disagree. We're all a bit biased and addicted to travel, though

As for the money - my typical burn rate in Europe would average to around 50€/day, not including transport between cities/countries, so for a month I'd be looking at 1500€. Sounds like it'll work!

extremely jealous that your heading off to Budapest for a week...happy to give any suggestions if you need it! Try and get out of Budapest as well to experience the real Hungary

What a great trip - a week in each place is a great pace. Pordenone, eh? That'll be beautiful in spring. We were there in mid-June a few years back and it was baking hot already. I'd almost be inclined to stay there and daytrip to Venice a couple of times...save yourself some serious accommodation bills - and possibly get yourself a local guide in the form of some of those distant relatives?

In Prague you can get a week long transit pass which will save you in transit costs within the city - I think ours paid off in four days. I think in Budapest we just bought books of tickets. Did they have a week pass there, BG?

Have fun!
