Guys...

I thought i was bound to get a better deal on a flight booking online, bypassing the travel agent, who no doubt takes a cut, but alas, a lot more expensive online, even online direct from the airlines. Why is this the case? Do the travel agents have bulk buying powers or something. Its not just a few dollars either, its hundreds of dollars. Damn, its making it hard !

Shit, this is turning into the my very own thread...

Did you aussies know that while may onwards is many airlines high season, it is actually cathay pacifics low season. Good news for all i should think. No more need to fly something dodge like osama airways.

Cheers

Sounds crazy, but occasionally booking through the airline itself (instead of a bucket shop) ends up being a better deal. I just got a r/t ticket from Seattle to London for $525US *direct* on British Air. And I did some serious research on it beforehand. Seems like there is no rhyme or reason to it, though, huh?

Cheers SV...

Yeah, i know of ppl that book direct, and say its the cheapest... Perhaps if i just give them a call, i can negotiate something.

Its just that online, it just seems not to be the case.

I hear ya oz.. People are always telling me about the great deals that they get online, but whenever I go searching for flights they end up being WAYYY more expensive than if I went to a travel agency. what gives? i dunno mabye I'm doing it wrong, but I very rarely find good clean (meaning no hidden charges) deals.
