I plan on backpackin through asia sometime around september this year and, being as inexperienced as I am, was wondering how people get around from country to country? Is it just a series of seperate buses or trains that you catch? Is it the same as city town to town? How expensive is something like that going to be? Thanks for your help!

Don't neglect some of the discount airlines that operate in Asia. There many cheap, decent airlines that have quite inexpensive fares. A few to consider in the Thailand/Malaysia area include:

Nok Air
Air Asia

I am currently living in Tokyo Japan and am planning a trip to China, Cambodia and Thailand in May before I head back to Canada. I can totally arrange airfare to China from Japan because its super cheap, but I'm not sure of the safest/ cheapest/ easiest way to get from China to Cambodia, then Cambodia to Thailand, then Thailand to Narita Airport so I can fly home. I can speak English, French, and bad Japanese only.
