I'm considering cycling to Amsterdam with a mate at easter. I live 20 miles from Harwich in England, where I can get a ferry to Hoek Van Holland, which is 50 miles from Amsterdam. I hope to take 2 days to get there averaging 35 miles a day on the bikes. I'd like to take my tent and sleeping bag and camp somewhere on the way, and same again on the way back, although not sure how I'd carry them yet.
Has anyone done this before? Is it a good/bad idea? Is 35 miles a day realistic (never done any long distance riding before)? Any general thoughts?
