I spoke to two different travel agents (in Australia) today about my trip to Europe and both mentioned that Stray Travel has gone bankrupt - and those who booked and paid in advance don't get their money back or their services which sucks. (I didn't really plan on going on a Stray, but I was considering it at one stage a while ago).

Their Aussie website (www.straytravel.com.au) isn't working so I assume it's down for good…. But their main website www.straytravel.com is operating as usual with no mention of any such financial / operational problems.

So… anyone else heard anything about Stray? Obviously if a company goes belly up, the least of their worries is their website. But it'd suck if someone tried to book online now (if what I have been told is true) and the company actually took the money anyway - you know how these things work.

Oh my God!!! Ive heard so many bad things about Stray, this is by far the worst. If a certified travel agency told you this then I would for sure steer clear of Stray.

Yeah I heard the same thing. Went on their website last week and a pop up came on and said that they were bankrupt for their europe tours. But the nz buses are still running/. That's sad. I went on stray two years ago and i had a great time. :( was even considering using them again.

As another option, Try Busabout.com. I think they´re still in business, but you might want to check for feedback on this forum, maybe in earlier postings.

There was a gym in LA that was taking membership initiation fees up until the day before they closed! They were going bankrupt so they took the cash and ran. Not sure if there was a massive protest, but whatyagonna do?
