I've called STA Travel over 10 times, the cheapest flight I can find from Boston Mass into ANY EUROPEAN CITY (except London) is $700 +! Where else can I look, I've tried all the generic travel sites I CANT FIND ANYTHING! Help!

When are you leaving? Rates are cheaper during off-peak travel season. If you want to travel before April, you should be able to get a ticket to London or Paris for around $400.

Instead of STA, try Mobissimo. Give me the dates that you want to go and I'll do some digging for you as well.

seriuosly, i changed my departure date from philly to london from june 1 to may 24 and the price dropped from 700 to 490....and u can always use london as a base and use the cheap intra europe airfare to get to another country from there...like go boston to london, then use ryanair or easyjet or whatever to go to where u want to

Does anyone have any ideas for SFO to Amsterdam for about june 13- july 28th. I cant find anything even close. Even student universe has it for over 1,000. Any ideas? Its not panic time, I dont plan on buying for some weeks, unless its around the 600 range or something. Any tips I can try. I cant afford a thousand. Thanks for the help. -Kyle

Kyle - while buying in advance is usually really good, buying WAY in advance often isn't. Keep your eyes peeled for summer specials as they come along. 'Course, if you find something for under $1000 that's refundable, you might want to book it on your charge card and keep it in your pocket until you can dump it for a better price... Just a thought.

Last summer I got to A'dam from SF by taking a $600 flight from SFO to LHR, then a £20 flight on BMI to Amsterdam... Still not the best price ever, but it was good for the summer.

Yeah right now I have a 533 from sfo to iceland, then to london Heathrow then I have to get to London stanstead and I can fly to eindhoven direct for another 80$ rt. I actually need to end up in Eindhoven and not amsterdam so thanks to easyjet or ryanair (I forget) I can go direct and save on the train fare from AMS to Eindhoven. But my question is this, 533 is a pretty good price, do you think this will go up or down before too long? My dates are 90% sure and I want to buy around february. So any projections, I want this price to be my max to LHR so I would buy it early if it is hinting that it will go up. Thanks everyone, studentuniverse.com and ryanair.com and easyjet.com are the ways to go, check if you can piece em together like that, it really saves, and sometimes it helps you get to a specific small city that you need. thanks again. -kyle

$533 is a good price, if that's including tax. It's really difficult to say for sure whether or not you should buy it now or wait til february-- the prices can change every day. But Omisan's right, buying waaaay in advance if you're not 100% sure of the dates-- or if you find another ticket-- can have downsides. Is that $533 ticket refundable?

WestCoastKyle 01-21-2005 08:03 PM

Crap. Well I was wrong on two fronts. The price didnt include taxes and it ended up to be almost 700$!!!!! And secondly it wasnt even refundable, so needless to say im holding out for something better. I dont like how this season's prices are going for me, last year about this time I had a ticket to Amsterdam for 540, now I cant even get to london for under 700. I had heard rumors that it was going to be a cheap year for euro airfaire. So any ideas? I think ill just keep checking every day and see how it goes. On a second note, does anyone know how to fix my avitar, its beginning to piss me off. Ive tried about everything. Thanks err-body. Happy trails. :cowboy: -Kyle

I tried onetravel and they seemed to have pretty good rates for most things. I agree, studentuniverse has great flight prices as well. Travelocity has an option for flexible dates if you are at all flexible. Another site to use if you're willing to wait is travelzoo.com. They're more last minute, but you can usually find stuff a couple months in advance.

Good luck
