Hey, Me and a buddy are goin to Australia for about a month and a half from America and were trying to figure out the cheapest way to get there. About how much should a cheap airfare to Australia cost because we really doin't know much about this. We are goin to backpack around down there, but we need a cheap way to get there. Thanks for any help, info or tips you can give.

Johnra - I went to Australia last May. It was a great time. Airfare to Australia from the U.S. depends on where you are flying from. Generally it seems to run about $1,500 if you fly from from the east coast of the U.S., to maybe $1,000 to $1,200 flying from the west coast of the U.S. Not sure where you are flying from? I spent a lot of time watching fares and they do not seem to change too much (maybe $100 up or down or for last minute fares, but I do not like to wait for a last minute fare)....but keep your eyes open and maybe a sale will pop up. I flew from Boston to Sydney on United(through San Francisco), btw, and it was around $1,500. good luck.
