My name is Joe Castaldo and I'm a journalism student at Ryerson University in Toronto. I'm writing a short piece on finding low-priced airline tickets, and I was hoping some of you could help me out. How do you buy your airline tickets? I'm interested in talking with people who've had good or bad experiences with travel agencies, buying online, auction sites, last minute deals, vacation packages, couriering etc. I'd especially like to talk to people who live in the Toronto area, but that's not entirely necessary. I am in Toronto (Just it outside actually), and my way of buying tickets is to find a large corprate company like Flight Center who beats anyones price, then start shopping around via the phone to get a list of price's out there, then gettiing in touch with Flight Center and hagling with them for the lowest price. I have saved $100's of $$$ doing this.
Dunno if that helps at all, but thats my story and I am stick'n too it!
The best site I've found, by far, is mobissimo.com. It searches about 30 different sites to find you the lowest online fare. They've found fares that I then could take into travel agents and make them ticket, much to their surprise. (The most recent one I found, from Warsaw to Vilnius, was about $150 cheaper than anything the travel agent could get in her computer, until I gave her the specific flight information).
