I HAD A PLAN! And it's gone all wonky 'round the edges [and I haven't even left Britain yet! :D]. Tripping down Italy toward Greece, I plotted to take the ferry from Brindisi to Corfu, was sorting it out, and have just found out that the cardholder booking the ferry needs to be one of the passengers. >(! As I don't have a credit card I was using Maters... So what are my options? Can I get a ticket for same-day travel just by turning up at the port, or what? Any help here would be greeted with joyful flailing.

I would imagine you could get a ticket the same day or a few days before via a travel agent in Italy, maybe for a little bit more.

what is maters?

*faceplant* Sorry: I miss out an apostraphe and the world gets horribly confused, my bad. I meant 'Mater's' as in, using my mother's card. Sorry 'bout that!

oh, okay! lol

I reeeeeeaaaallly don't think you'll have a problem buying the ticket once you get there, I think that's actually the way most people do it. Are you going to have a railpass? If so I think you can actually use that for the trip!! Or at least it would get you a discount on the ticket, that much I know for sure.

Oh, and WELCOME to the boards!!

Jaqc, get your ticket on the day, you won't have any dramas at all. Just go to the ticket booth at the port, pay the cash (or show valid rail pass) and you'll be sweet.

I had no prob getting a walk up ticket when I took the ferry last time...you should be fine...you MIGHT pay a bit more for not pre booking, but i even doubt that.

Nah, that thing about ferry tickets costing extra is just a myth that travel agents use to con people into paying them to organise tickets in advance. Just walk up on the day, you'll be fine!

That is what I am going to do, take a ferry from Brindisi to Corfu. Are you going to the pink palace? Let me know how things work out as i'll be heading the same direction in a few months.
