[font=Impact][color=purple]Hi, I'm new here. I read your postings on Airhitch and decided to do some reading into it, especially since my hubby and I are planning a very low budget trip to Europe.

Anyhow, from everything I read up on them, they are legit. Apparently, they started in the 60's - a very liberal, free thinking group of people who wanted to travel but weren't upper class. The website kind of conveys the way they operate and I think it's supposed to be maintained as something for more liberal free spirited people, which is why they have no problem being rude in emails and having a simple website. They only want people who "get it" to do it.

Anyhow, I read a lot of different articles on them, and I'm not sure if I read it correctly, but I think the Frommors (sp?) guy had to do with the beginning. Also, if you do a search, you can find lots of magazine/newspaper articles on them, web articles, personal stories, where they've been featured, etc. Most sites not affiliated with them. They've been featured in a lot of magazines, from beauty to travel.

Also, since they use Verisign, you can pretty much trust you won't get ripped off - since they have to go through a credit card processing company, they have to get checked and when using something such as Verisign, it's nearly impossible for people to take your money and run.

So, I think you should go for it - about 250 for a one way isn't bad. Make sure to read over their website carefully. They have a lot of info on it. If you do go for it, keep us posted on how it turns out. Apparently their CS can be kind of rude, but it gets you where you want to go.
