cruise lines, is it worth it?
so with the way of the world these days and how far the us dollar goes i have been thinking about taking a cruise w/ just me and my girlfriend. i have traveled alot, she has not, and neither of use has been on a cruise liner. since we live in tx i was thinking about mex. the prices seem to really jump up if you go to the islands. this trip is gonna be on the cheap so a drive to a port like new orleans or mobile from austin is gonna be our best bet. i guess what i'm asking is for feedback, the do's and don'ts, good ways to smuggle booze and what not. basically the good, the bad, and the ugly of your cruise line trips. are we headed for fun or death by pirates?

Bit off subject, but there are flights to belize from austin right now for about 215 (roundtrip) AA or Continental?. Belize is english speaking and I am sure it would be cheap. Save you a trip to the alabama or LA. I was browsing prices last night.

I was anti-cruise until offered a free one with the in-laws. I figured if i got off the boat each day and tried to explore on my own a bit it would be worth it. Well you know what, it was totally fun. Got to sleep in the same bed everynight but wake up in a new city everyday. Kinda sweet.
as far as booze, we smuggled a sh1tload onboard. We actually packed a suitcase we didnt care about with 2 cases of those plastic miller lite bottles. just checked it all the way through and they delivered it to our room with the rest of our luggage. we also filled some water bottles with vodka and clear rum and checked those thru with our regular luggage. It was pretty simple actually. |
Cruises are so fun. I went on Norwegian and it was such a great time. I would definitely do it again
