Budget airline questions - within europe

Hi, am hoping to use some budget airlines to take some flights within europe, eg. Ryanair, Easyjet etc. Was planning to do Rome-Lisbon and Porto-London.

However I've never done this before so had a few questions, maybe someone could put me at ease... will there be any problems with baggage? I have a 60 litre backpack, it's about 2/3rds full so not massively heavy, plus I have a daypack. I was hoping to check the 60 litre in and take the daypack as carry on, do I have to pay extra to put a big back in the hold?

Also will I need to print out a ticket if I book online, am travelling around at the moment and internet cafes do not always have printers so this may present difficulties!

I suppose these are pretty novice questions but I just want to know what I'm doing before I book! Thanks!

Your checked luggage is measured by weight, usually around 15 kilos. Carry on luggage is measured by size, you wont have any trouble with a day pack.

If you're a little over the weight limit put as much heavy stuff in your daypack as you can.

As for printing tickets, when I was over there (2007) I was never required to print a ticket but was just given a booking number (which was usually written on the back of a coaster or napkin) although that may have changed.

yep, the cheap airlines charge for you to put a bag in the hold. Take a look around before choosing. Ryan Air is taking the piss these days. check out Easy Jet or Thompson. And in England there are loads of others going south. BMIbaby, FlyBe, etc.
