Driving from Mali around the Mediterranean
Hello,
So two friends and I are planning on entering the great African run and will end up having a car in Mali that we bought in most likely Hungary. Since we will have a vehicle there anyway we are thinking we should just take a very long road trip across north Africa, up through the middle east and back into Europe. If our car broke down and was not repairable then we would be buying cheap motorcycles most likely and continuing. I however have read that we need a Carnet de Passages en Douane. We are all Canadians but from what I have found about Carnets is that we would need to purchase it in Canada and then return the vehicles there. We though would be either donating or selling the car however and it wouldn't be purchased until we were out of the country. So my question is if this is possible. The countries we would go through for the Budapest-Bamako do not require Carnets so they have no available information about them. Thanks for any help! If you are interested in the great African run then here is their website. Budapest-Bamako 2010 |
