Great Britain Transportation Question

So. I am targeting to head out on my journey spring 2010 and want to start in Ireland and work my way East through Europe. Suggestions on how to get from Ireland to Scotland and down into UK (definately Cornwall and London). Not sure if train or Ferry or air or all 3....

Hopefully those who have come before me can offer their knowledge.

Thanks,
Matt

Me personally I would fly from Dublin or Belfast to the UK. Unless you are the type of person who likes the experience of riding on a ferry or going overland or whatever. Me - NO THANKS! Lets get it over quickly with via air. Keep checking Ryanair for sales. For example they had a sale Dublin to Edinburgh or Glasgow like 3 euros that ended tonite (not for spring 2010 tho). With all the fees would prob cost u no more than 20-30 dollars. The next few sales they run could be for your dates.

Now getting around UK I have no clue. :(

Cool

Thanks for the info... Sounds like a good plan to fly as I will be on trains and all my whole way through Europe. Maybe go from Ireland to Scotland and then down to UK and over to Europe...

I still have 9 months or so to plan. The little planning i will be doing LOL.

If it were me, I would look at getting the ferry to either Scotland or England then working my way down or up through the trains. But then again, I love riding the rails and ferries so thats my sort of thing. Which ever you choose either flying from Ireland or getting a ferry there are options available.

Tickets and Fare Prices | Belfast to Stranraer Ferry | Stena Line

You can get a bus from Dublin to Belfast (about 15 pounds I think it was) then take the ferry to Scotland for 25 pounds. From there take buses or the trains, or what have you.

I took the ferry from Wales to Ireland than from Belfast to Scotland and both rides were really nice. Belfast to Scotland was a lot shorter though. Nice to to relax, but if you get sea sick, might have a little bit of a problem there. I get sea sick, but I just took some medicine before hand, and it knocked me out for a good portion of the ride (though I don't know how safe that is if you're alone).

Good luck! :)
