So it looks like I'm going to be in the UK/Ireland for about 2 months in some not so central places... So I was thinking of maybe just buying a cheap car/scooter/something instead of trying to rely on so-so buses and rides from people... My question is... is this possible? What would I do about registration and insurance? Anyone have any idea?

I'm not to sure but it could be difficult. I'd buy in England anyway, they take much better care of their cars which get allot less abuse because their roads are better. I'm preaty sure they have a National car test scheme aswell, every car has to pass a road worthy test every 2 years or so depending on the age of the car.

You will have an address in England/Ireland?

You could pick up a decent little 1litre car for €1000 - €2000.

If your planning on taking the car on the ferry the its around €140+

Where abouts will you be going? Are you sure the places really are so out ofthe way? We get pretty good bus and train coverage over here!
