Athens to Naxos by ferry
I've been searching around for any of the slow overnight ferries from Piraeus to Naxos (in late May), but I haven't been able to find any schedules listed for slow ferries that leave at night and arrive in the morning. I know the highspeed ferries would get me there in a few hours, but I was planning on flying into Athens in the afternoon and taking an overnight ferry to Naxos to avoid paying for a hostel that night.
Has anyone done this or know of any ferries that make this overnight trip? Or should I just stay in Athens that night and head out in the morning?
Thanks for your help!

Saddly, the way the Greek isles ferry schedules work, is that you won't know much for sure about any timelines till a month prior to date. Naxos is a pretty long ferry ride, so you will either waste part of your day on the ferry, which I actually enjoy, or you hope that an overnighter pops up before you go. I chose to fly from Naxos to Athens on Olympic airlines. I bought a few months ago, and got a decent deal. Somewhere in the $100's. Don't have it in front of me. But its like a 35 minute flight . Happy Travels

So... does this mean I don't have to book ferries until I get there?
Is it likely will I get a ferry from Pireus to Ios if I buy it there?

When are you going? More than likely, if you get to Pireus a little early, you shouldn't have a problem. That is a fairly long ferry ride so be prepared. Its cool though, kinda like a mini cruise through Greece.
I've decided to not buy my tickets till I arrive. After researching and talking with people on other boards (more Greece specific), I'm not to worried. I also feel comfortable that if i just buy my ticks to depart the day I arrive, i can avoid any issues. Keep me posted as I will be leaving Holland for the greek isles on June 15. Any info is good info

When are you gonna be in Greece?
I'll be there from June 17-21... Athens-Ios- and then somehow make it to Kusadasi on the 22nd.
I think the ferry is like 6-7 hours to Ios... but Im wondering how long from Ios to Samos or directly to Kusadasi....can't seem to find many Greece-Turkey ferry connections online....
