Europe and the US will be opening up the market to more airlines including the budget airlines. The top airlines have held a monopoly on the EU/US air routes since time began but a new deal will see more choice and most importantly cheeper flights between the EU and US.

I wouldn't be surprised, you can already fly to the states for €150 one way (not inc taxes) from Ireland (aerlingus). If you could get the same coming back it should work out around that price and aerlingus aren't even the cheepest. If ryanair and bmi start it could be even cheeper.
