Guys...
Just a thought. Those who have flown out from the states/canada to australia, what have the prices on tix been. Just thinking that i will need to know that i will have enuff money to get back to oz if i go to the states/canada after europe.
Another point, would it be cheaper to fly out of the states, canada or even as far south as mexico? All options i guess. Im in the market to save every $$.
Thanks in advance, and look forward to your guys comments.

I haven't flown to oz yet, but I've bought my ticket. To give you an idea this was the price (keep in mind this is canadian dollars). Departing from Vancouver it was $1483 to arrive in Brisbane or Sydney. Each additional stopover is $100 bux. And to change a date on your ticket is $50 bux. So it was $1683 plus tax for me (since I'm stopping over in fiji and nz). Tax was about $300. damn taxes.

The taxes here are what makes flying so bloody expencive...you can look at spending anywhere from 1200.00 to 1800.00 with taxes, depends on what deal you get, if any...just make sure you shop around for that ticket, you would be surprised what a little comparison shopping can do to the price of a plane ticket.

Thanks guys, i think canadian dollars are similar to what our aussie dollar is, if i remember correctly. I guess a stop over in hawii would be nice, but ultimately that flight home would be the final hoooray. The flight that will bring me back to reality...
That was the cost of a oneway flight DIO ??? just cause thats what it is costing me 1way to UK.
But, i think i will just go home, visit my family for a month, then begin backpacking around oz. Think that i will buy a 4x4 for that one, but still stay at hostels, camping grounds, cuz this little duck knows where da party at, and how to save a buck.
Laaaater, and thanks.

yeah and flights from US are very expensive because Qantas and Air New Zealand dominate the South Pacific market with almost no competition from the US airlines. They can do this because the USD is worth more in both the NZ and OZ economy, so their operating costs are lower. Well thats what I was told, but I could be wrong. Anyway the most expensive tickets I ever bought were from South Pacific destinations.

Thats true, but for us, using asian/middle eastern airlines (cathay pacific) is cheaper for us. QANTAS is a very expensive airline to fly with. It bites...

yeah I hear ya! One time I had to take a Korean Air flight from Auckland to Fiji to Korea and then to San Francisco, about 30 hours in flight, because the cost was a 3rd of what Qantas and ANZ wanted

Shiiiit, I can't help you out on this one OZ, but my Canadian homies seem to have this one pretty much in the right ballpark.
Hope you get the help that you need!
