Hello TP peeps. I only have 5 days in Thailand and I'm flying in and out of bangkok. I wanted to get down to Phi Phi and hopefully stay down there for new years. Will I have enough time? I don't mind leaving bangkok on the second day.

So what is the best method of travel from bangkok down south? I don't imagine that a 14 hour bus ride will work since I only have 5 days.

So, what you you recommend on such a short itinerary? My girlfriend is planning the vietnam portion or the trip so I want this half to be pretty sweet.

Thanks!

Definately fly one of the budget airlines to Phuket, and then take a boat to Phi Phi. Three budget airlines to check out are:
Air Asia
Nok Air
One Two Go

Just keep in mind that the flight is 1hr+, then another 45 minute taxi ride to the ferry on Phuket, then another 1 to 2 hour boat ride(depending on boat). So, even flying it can take half a day easy to get there. You can get really cheap flights, however. Watch out that your luggage is not overweight if you go with Air Asia, they will wack you for it. Good luck!

Thanks! Found some really cheap flights on airasia. Do you remember what the taxi and ferry costs were?

Thanks again! oh, I guess, I wouldn't mind hearing about some hostels or bungalos you recommend.

Yeah your flying mate, there is no sense in takin a bus since the journey will take a day there and back plus another day recovering from it, so yea I would take the above advice and try to find the cheapest flight you can, it should only be a couple thousand baht!
