Im a little confused... if I want to book a flight the prices vary, to put it midly, drastically on Ryanair.com. Im looking to go from Paris to Rome. The prices get cheaper and cheaper as you get further into the future. They get to 0.01 Euro a flight for middle of Dec 2006. If I book a ticket now for that price, will there be any complications when I arrive at the airport? Will they hit me with some 100 Euro tax or something?

What disadvantages are there to using really cheap flights? I've heard about the poor seating and remotely placed airports, but is there anything else? Thanks... David

Well it is first come first served in terms of seats, so the earlier you check in the earlier you get in line to run across the runway and grab your seat. (bulkhead and emergency exits are best)

and yes the airports are not actually IN the major cities. but ryan air does provide a cheap bus to the city and back that runs on time with flights. (smart eh) So that's not really a problem.

yeah the low cost airlines are always having offers like that. Mind you a 1p flight with ryan air is still way too much to pay

So say you took a ryan air flight from paris to amsterday, approximately how much would it cost you all up?

Just go through the online process to see what they wanna charge you and then exit the screen.. that's what I did... I paid 60 quid for a return trip to Barcelona and there were no extras (unless you want food or water on the plane)

I remember going to Belgium when they said it was "Brussels/Charloet" and it wound up being smack dab in Charloet! Ryannair then sold me a coach ticket to Brussels for 15 euros. Also when its 1p that does not include taxes. Its still cheap but you do get what you pay for.

Yes its still very cheap. I flew from Dublin to Hahn (outside of Frankfurt Germany) for about 15 USD one way. Okay, so airports on the outskirts, you have to pay for water, fight for seats, yadda yadda who cares. You get an amazingly cheap flight. People are being so hard on low budget airlines, seeming to forget that they're low budget . So, if you want a brie and proscuitto sandwhich with Perrier with assigned extra leg room seating flying out of a major international airport, don't book a budget seat. If you want to get from point A to point B, see what the price is after taxes. If its cheap, super. No, you pay nothing at the counter unless your baggage is over the limits.

Ryan AIR: Really strict on baggage and will charge you if you don't prepay for your bags. And for some reason there are always about 128 screaming babies on board. Horrible leg room but saved me 150 bucks!!!

I fucking hate RyanAir. it was the worst experience of my life. (of course I was dieing i was so hungover...) I did on;ly pay about 3 bucks round trip from Dublin to Karlsruhe they charged me 3 euros for a coffee that was smaller than my hand. And they don't mention the fact that everything is expensive. And If you're even 1/2 a kilo over the limi tthey charge you 130 euros. They almost did this to me (granted I was 5 over) but I cried my way out of it (again, I was hungover). I'm never flying this again. And I do not reccomend it.

on my current trip I flew Virgin atlantic to sydney and United to San francisco and I have to say that United gave me TONS more food and drink than virgin did. I'm guessing this is common practice (ever heard of rip off britain?), it just shocked me at the huge difference.

Granted I had awful inflight entertainment and screaming babies but the food really made up for it. I guess I'm easily pleased..

Anyway my point being, when flying with a UK or Irish airline (no matter if it's low cost or not) dont expect much food wise as they are tight as hell!!
