Uuuuh....so yea bump this over if you want mods. Whatever works.
------------- Unfortunately my digital camera broke shortly after this and I had to switch to film (so it may take me a long time to get my Golan pictures developed and digitized...sigh...), so this is the last batch for now even though I have many, many other stories from this trip. Okay, so this is the Mount of Beatitudes, the supposed site where Jesus taught the Sermon on the Mount (even though the exact location of the site is completely unknown, as are most of the sites in Israel). It is an Israeli national preserve and is maintained by the Catholic Church. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/9...ture0791kx.jpg Before the entrance. You can see far off into the distance from this high up the hill. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1...ture0466vi.jpg The entrance. Dogs, Smoking, Guns, Human Legs and Using a Fork And Knife to Cut a Martini Glass are strictly prohibited. However, apparently Asian kids randomly kissing their index fingers are permitted. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6...ture0649pw.jpg A plaque at the entrance. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8...ture0668jb.jpg The Church of the Beatitudes. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7...ture0475gi.jpg Directly behind the Church is this building. I assume it's the convent that houses the nuns who are the caretakers of the Church, because when I went up there and poked around a nun yelled at me and waved her rosary around like she was either having a seizure or was going to commence beating me with it or something. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/2...ture0575gd.jpg Walking through and around in here to the left side of the church, one comes to a staircase. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8...ture0522mb.jpg Down the stairs, one is cautioned by this sign. But, um, since I don't have a sister...haha...I decided to keep going, only to find... http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8...ture0543mh.jpg Another prayer site. Only this one didn't have holy coat hangers. The Greeks remain the coolest sect in Israel. That's all for now. Peace! |
The finger-kissing kids are clearly only permitted if they don't have legs.
And as for seeing the Sister first, you did see the one at the convent... :tumbleweed: |
But how am I going to eat my martini?!?!?!
And what about my chainsmoking hitman dog? Where will he go to pray? |
