voyd:* Nice dewd. I'm glad to know I'm not the only beer nerd out there.* :P
The original is called something like Budvar Budweiser. IIRC, Budvar is the name of the brewery. And Budweiser actually comes from the name of the town where it originated (Budweis). I believe that brewery actually owns the rights to the name 'Budweiser' in Europe. Anyway, there is an awesome show on The History Channel called Empires of Industry. They did one on American breweries awhile back. Check it out if you get a chance. Has all the old school brewers in it;* Schlitz, Pabst, Yeungling <sp>. They did one on Coke/Pepsi too. That one was pretty cool. Ok, now I'm babbling. I'm gonna go download pr0n or something.* :P
Well, I'm far from a beerologist, quite far, but do know a few bits here and there from travelling and whatnot.

But, FASCINATING background on Bud! This is the type of history I love learning from history that you never learn in school. Origins and "street history!"

So, what is the history of Yuengling beer, btw? What language is that? That sounds frickin' Chinese! Tsingtao beer in China is actually a German brewery started by German immigrants there.

There's a local Dr. Pepper museum here in TX, and it also has a lot of interesting history on its origin...

LiveFreeorDie - Agreed, we should have a beer connoisseur thread!

We get Budvar served at our local, although I have to say I dont drink it...prefer Kronenburg, but I think that there is a town called 'Budvar' in the (Ceczh?) Republic. Hope this helps you with your 'beer mystery'.

Sorry for the spelling of ceczh but im lazy and cant be arsed to look it up.

Ok, i tried posting this last night, but the power went out, and i couldnt be bothered posting it again.

If you in oz, there are many different beers that are worth trying. Here are a few of my favorite Ambers...

VB (victorian bitter) - Ok, maybe im a bit biased being a victorian, but not a bad drop from the tap, or out of a stubbie.
Carlton Cold (coldies) - Great drop when consumed icey cold. Perfect for after a hard days work.
Coopers Pale Ale (no american pie joke, pulease) - Not a bad offering from South Australia.
James Boags Premium Lager - Could drink this anytime of day. From Tasmania.
Carlton Draft (Caaaarlton) - Favorite beer on tap at our local.
Tooheys New - A good alternitive when a pub doesnt serve Caaarlton.

Theres a tonne more, and ive probably missed a heap of good ones, but these are the beers consumed by myself the most.

Good luck, and enjoy the beers down under.

... oh and yeah.

Budweiser is sold in our "import" section, although never looked at the price, cuz ive never bothered to try it.

Wild Turkey and Dry, now thats a drink. Buy that by the slab...

Anyone seen that movie, the stoned age... want to know if there is a beer in the states called Ox45. And, can you buy your beer in 'Talls' (440ml)

Bit slow on the uptake on this one... but WELCOME to the boards Phizz! I haven't managed to get online much this week and I've missed tons!

As far as Beer is concerned, you can't beat a pint of proper nice strong continental lager like Kronenbourg or Stella Artios... Hmmm... think I might go get one in a mo actually!

And as far as Europe is concerned, I will be there in the Summer as I live there (in the UK), so if you plan on coming over let me know... and I'll point you in the direction of a few good Ye Olde Englishe Pubs, haha!

xx

Sweet! I'll be there for a couple days at the end of May. Hook a brotha up with some London pub recommendations. :P
