Default Europe Trip

It's been a long while since my last past (hello again). I thought I would share some of my Euro pics.

The best comes first. This was at a train station in London.

Great fun at Oktoberfest in Munich.

Even though it's crowded with tourists, I still love Prague.

Cesky Krumlov is great too.

Budapest

Getting Tear Gassed

Riot cops outside my window.

More Budapest.

Budapest has never looked better. What was the first photo advertising?

Turns out it was advertising a new TV station in London. It was knocking all the U.S. shows that British people watch. The idea was to create a stir and get some free publicity. It worked. Spike Lee heard about it and started a counter campaign.

Hey man, your pics are great!!! I can't wait to wonder around Translvania. Any chance you could hook us up with some lodging info for Romania, Hungary, or anywhere else in E.E. you stayed?

Sure,

Sir Toby's in Prague is great. It's not central, but it's right next to a tram line that connects to the the metro. The service is great, the rooms are very nice and clean and the bar is cheap and fun.

Hostel 99 in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic is one of the best hostels I ever stayed in. The hostel is built into the old city wall and full of character. It's in a great location, and the adjoining restaurant is not to be missed. Great food and cheap prices.

Vamhaz in Budapest is amazing. I worked there for a few months so I am a bit biased. THat said, the service is amazing the location is perfect and it's very affordable.

Rolling stone hostel in Brasov, Romania was great. The owners go out of their way to make sure you are happy and the location is great. They can set up tours at affordable prices to visit all the areas surrounding castles.

I stayed at 3 black cats in Belgrade. If you are looking for a loud party hostel for cheap prices stay here...if not look elsewhere. Personally, I thought the owner/operator was nice and I only went to Belgrade for its legendary night life, so it was perfect for me.

I hope this helps.

Great job! I looked at your pictures and I started to daydream my trip there. Looks like you had a lot of fun. How long where you there for and did you go anywhere besides the places in the pics?

6 months. I lived in Budapest for 4 months and taught English and worked in a hostel. I went to a lot of other cities in the countries I posted. The only other countries I went to were Netherlands and Poland.

It's really not difficult. I got a Cambridge CELTA and the jobs are there if you want them. The certification isn't absolutely necessary but it definitely helps get your feet wet. If you have any more specific questions I'm happy to answer them. There are also some great books available and eslcafe.com is a good resource to get you started.

It was crazy that we ran into eachother. I think he already posted a thread about it when i happened including some pictures. We had actually planned a meet up at Oktoberfest but it fell through. Then, about a week later we met at a bar (the greatest bar ever) in Prague.
