^ Alas, I'm back now. I have a lot to say about India (that I haven't said in my blog) but it's taking me a while to coalesce everything into a coherent thought process. Coherent to everyone else besides me, I mean. India really throws you for a loop. A wonderful, noisy, bizarre, smelly, hilarious, touching, sad, beautiful, adrenaline-fueled loop.

Actually Laura, WWM is the dork. He coined that phrase a while ago and for whatever reason it's caught on.

Thanks guys, I.. uh.. love taking pictures. And I promise the rest of them will be uploaded some time soon. Although what with working 20.5 hours yesterday (yes, you read that correctly) and 11 hours today and probably 13 to 15 hours tomorrow, who knows when that will happen.

actually, it's funny that you said that. I thought that sounded like something WWM would say, which was why I was surprised voyd said it...<-- that right there is how you know you've been on a forum for too long ladies and gentleman; when you know everyone's online personalities so much so that you can almost predict what they're going to say before they say it....

Sadly, no. Hopefully I'll be going back soon though... we'll see.

Where did you go? It's a strangely addicting place, I think. But at the same time I just spoke with someone yesterday who was in Chennai for a week for a wedding and tried to change his ticket to leave immediately after arriving. He detested it with every fiber of his being, and from what I've heard Chennai is pretty laid-back compared to other cities.

And maybe it's just me, but don't you think the driving in India would make a fantastic video game??

ABSOLUTELY~
there is nothing like driving in India...it's funny cause i live right outside NYC and people make jokes about driving there and even places in Europe but nothing compares to India.

I loved India, unfortunately I didn't get to stay as long as i wanted to or see everything i wanted to. My school actually payed for my trip because i got an internship there and then the company paid for my living expenses (food, room, private driver everyday) while i was still there. I was there for a little over a month and spent about 3 weeks in Jamshedpur (west and slightly of Kolkata in JHARKAND, it's the Steel city) working for TATA Steel. I'm sure you've seen the Tata trucks everywhere in India and stuff. It was awesome cause i really didn't pay for anything except my in country travel (pleasure travel). They also hooked me up with a weekend in Kolkata where i got to stay at their company guest house and then i ended up spending another few days with family of some of my friends from home too. It was awesome cause i got to see how Indian's live in Kolkata, which is an amazing city. It's huge so i didn't get to see too much of what I wanted to but we partied a lot there, definitely one of the best nightlife scenes. After that I spent some time in Delhi and Agra. The Taj Mahal is the most amazing thing i've ever seen.

I can't wait to go back in a few years. I made alot of friends there and one of them has a mansion in Goa which he told me i'm welcome to use for as long as I want next time I come. I also want to see more of Rajasthan, Mumbai, Jaipur, and the Himalaya region.

I loved India. I had some trouble adjusting at first to the work life there because its very different then the U.S. but I learned so much and would do it again in a heartbeat. (Getting there from NY also sucks) haha. But once you are there you are right, it is addictive, especially because India is such a diverse country. You would never realize how different every state and city of the country is from one another until you get there. I think India is something EVERYBODY should see at some point in their life. The poverty is heartbreaking, i'm not gonna lie, and i got the chance to work at a health camp in a rural village and also spend the day at an AIDs clinic in Jamshedpur for my job and it was amazing. The people of India are wonderful, loving, a some of the happiest people i've ever met. They have the biggest smiles on Earth and most importantly they are loyal. I will never forget my first trip to India or the lifelong friends I made while i was there. Please go to India.

As you can tell from my ramble I am very passionate about India. It was the most culturally enriching experience I have ever had, and maybe will ever have. l left a part of my heart in India as they say all travelers do (I'm sure SV or any other traveler to India can vouch). If anyone is interested some of my pictures are online at Chris's India Pics
you gotta just go through them. the cool ones are scattered, some albums are mostly of when i was in Jamshedpur for work, but they are still awesome, especially the Elephant pics and the story that goes with it
