I meet a guy on the train from Brazil and he noticed they did the same thing before they got away and made them stamp it (not for legal reasons he just wanted the stamp) I heard of others that didn't get stamped ether so I'm guessing they just don't bother in some cases and it should be fine.

Sometimes you just don't get a stamp at certain border crossings between certain countries. When going from Croatia to Bosnia I didn't get a stamp, but I did when going from Serbia to Bosnia (i went from Serbia through Bosnia to Croatia, then back into Bosnia). Poland and Czech Republic probably have some kind of agreement so your Polish stamp will probably be fine, if you're concerned you could always ask at the Australian Embassy.

Now that so many eastern European countries are part of the EU, they're not quite as fanatic about the passport stamp thing, so I don't imagine you'll have any problems. If you're going to be in Czech for a little while, it might be worth contacting your embassy just to check, but I really doubt you'll be hassled. Maybe carry some sort of receipt from your hostel saying how long you stayed there, and see if you can find something from Germany to show when you were there, so at least you can prove where you've been if necessary. That's probably totally unnecessary though...

I never even went through customs or anything in Madrid. Got off the plan and went straight to luggage and on the streets. I went on to France, Germany and Switzerland. Never got a stamp. Sadly, the only stamp I have is coming back into the US.

You generally don't get stamps traveling between EU countries...

simply_angelic 03-10-2006 12:40 PM

yeah, I travelled b/w like 10 EU countries this summer and was only stamped b/w germany and london and that's only b/c I flew in...hell I wasnt even stamped when I came from Canada and landed in Paris! I was actually kind of disappointed b/c I wanted the stamp...

Yeah, you're screwed.

No just kidding, Ive been to the Czech Republic a few times, dont worry about it, just enjoy the Gambrinus.

You'll be fine Daniel, as omi said you don't really get stamps between countries that are in the EU.

Yeah, I wented from Munich to Prague on the train and didn't get a stamp and they never bugged me on the way out when they looked over my passport. Was all good.

Happens. I wouldn't worry about it Daniel. I remember once being in a car with Americans and Canadians and we got from France to the Netherlands without even running into border control. Same thing with Switzerland.

Jirka, I can confirm he officially left the country a few weeks ago with no problem what so ever. He's now somewhere in Bulgaria I believe.
