Vietnam visa in KL or SG?

Where is the Vietnam embassy in Kuala Lumpur and how much does it cost for a 1-month tourist visa. Also, is it cheaper to buy the visa in Malaysia or am I better off getting it in Sinagpore (where I plan to fly from anyways).


Also, when will the 1-month period begin?

1) upon entering Vietnam or
2) on the issue date

1) Does it matter where a passport is renewed or applied for? I mean, would a CDN embassy in KL charge more than its sister embassy in Ho Chi Minh for the same request for a new passport? Also, if one embassy refuses to punch in new pages (to an already valid passport), is it reasonable to assume that this is an international policy or simply one that specific embassies enforce.

HERE is a good site to check out about travel/visas/etc for Canadian citizens.

And no, there are no "competing" prices... government surcharges are going to be pretty much the same wherever you go.

I'd recommend getting your visas squared away before you depart Canada, that way you don't have to worry about it.

just google the vietnam embassy in kl and ya find the adress that way..

on ya visa application there will be a bit where ya put wat date you will be entering thats when it starts..

The way visas generally work is that there are two time frames you need to be aware of. There is the visa validity time period (how long the visa is valid after it is issued to allow you to enter the country) and then there is the time period of how long the visa allows you to stay inside the country. If you get a 1 month visa, it will likely be valid for a certain period of time, maybe up to a year depending on the country. That means you have up to a year to enter the country on that visa. Once you enter the country, you may only stay 30 days inside the country. Once you leave the country, then the visa will no longer be valid (assuming it is a 1 entry visa).

People often get confused on visa time frames but in the end, the type of visa you get, i.e. a '30 day visa' generally indicates how long you can stay inside the country, not how many days you have from the date of issuance. Hope this helps.

In the Vietnam case, your one-month-visa will be valid for the dates that you must provide in the registration form. I had mine made in Canada about 2 months before entering the country, and the dates I was allowed in the country were already set on the visa. So I had to enter and leave Vietnam somewhere during those days. I'm not sure wether it is possible to provide dates that exceed the 30 days allowed in, to give you more flexibility.

If your passport is about to expiry, be careful, several countries don't let people in, unless their passport is valid for at least 6 months or even one year. It varies from country to country. Here is the link to the canadian site for passport obtention : passport Canada. They say one can apply for new passport at Canadian government offices abroad. No mention of fees, but I personally would assume you will have to pay for delivery fees.

I don't see why an embassy would refuse to punch in new pages. Could you tell us more about it ?
