Default Passport problems

For my trip this July, I applied for my passport on March 19th. I just found out that they have lost my application and can't find me in their system at all. The check I wrote the department of state cleared on april 19th. Now I am stuck in limbo having to wait and see if they can find and expedite my passport or wait until 14 days from July 1st so I can fly down to the Houston passport agency and get an emergency passport. God bless America and all its bureaucratic red tape.

Ugh, what a horrible situation. We had a similar conundrum with an official passport for our daughter, which actually was processed and mailed to us two years after we applied. Fortunately, we did have a tourist passport for her so that was okay.

If your cheque cleared, might they waive the fee for the emergency passport? At least in part, perhaps? Might be worth asking - obviously the mistake is at their end. Just keep your record of the transaction! You may still have to pay a fee to have it expedited, but it's better than nothing.

Good luck.

After countless hours on the phone, I have managed not only to find my passport in the system, but someone apparently got through to them. They overnighted it yesterday and bright and early someone was knocking at my door at 8 am. If anyone else is having problems like this call 1-877-487-2778 then dial 131 to get to an operator when it doesn't connect hit 931 over and over and over and over until you get waiting music. After all that you might want to consider emailing your congressman and see what they can do. I am not sure who really got mine done, but fuckin a its here now.

Nice work. My sister spent 6 hours at the Passport Agency (luckily we have one in Philly) so she could get hers yesterday. You know, cause we leave tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last second...

We're having some not bad weather over here at the minute, so fingers crossed it will be nice for you! Where abouts in England will you be? (You've probably left by now actually!)

only London for a day and a half, nothing too exciting or exotic. *Sigh* I am looking into some job opportunities near Leeds however for next spring so that would be pretty sweet.
