Heys guys,

I'm planning on backpacking around Europe for two months with a mate and was wondering if any Aussies here could recommend a travel agent to use. I'm looking for the cheapest flight possible (I'm a student) and also plan on doing a short contiki tour and then getting a Eurail pass. Apart from this I plan on keeping my itinery fairly loose, however as always, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers

I actually just booked a flight to Europe today

I got it through studentflights (www.studentflights.com.au). It was at a travel show though so they said it was a special deal but im not sure about that. Its perth-london for $1450ish + taxes etc.

They seemed to be the cheapest flights that I could see around so definately call in to the travel agents in whatever city you are in and have an ask around.

The flights get dramatically cheaper if you go after the 4th of October. Im not sure about the start of the year since I was always planning to go just after peak season but the dates were something like june-16 august (most expensive) 16 Aug- 4 oct and then cheap after then.

Goodluck

Thanks mate. Was that the flight centre discover Europe travel show? It's coming to Melbourne next weekend. Do you think it's worth checking out?

Cheers

Yeah that was it - there wasnt actually alot there that I havent found info out about through these forums/websites etc but its not too bad. If you want to use busabout they were giving some discounts off that. It was on sunday and you had to put down a deposit then and now ive got to fully pay my flight and book before thursday so its best to have an idea of what you want before you go there.

My last trip I used STA Travel for Perth - Bangkok - London and it was a pretty good deal, it would be even better if you were a student.

Thanks mate.

For anyone that cares:

I went to the expo today. It was much better than I had expected, got a fair idea of airfares and such but didn't make any bookings. I plan on booking it all in next weekend.
