It sounds like you'd do better to buy a return ticket with immigration and money anyway. It's a lot cheaper to change the date than to buy a ticket there, so you wouldn't have to worry as much about money.
As for credit, I'm taking a very low-limit card (like $1000) which is pretty much to pay the deductible on my travel insurance and buy an emergency ticket home. (Maybe pay my last few days of hostels if I end up a few bucks short at the end--which I doubt.)
