so my friends mom went to visit her in milan. she came back a week later and said she had spent $9,000 in italy in the 7 day trip.
i think i'm about the cheapest person in the world so the thought of spending that much money seemed insane. even if i had a billion dollars i would still be sleeping in hostels and eating loves of bread with cheese for lunch. thats just how i am.
but i was wondering. whats the most you guys have spent in a week.
dont include things like, "i spend 10,000 dollars cause i bought a car". i mean like, your traveling and just spending money like crazy, or you get drunk and go to the casino, or you decide to make a last second trip to some sporting event or something and sspend a buttload on tickets.
as for me, i dont have any super crazy weeks but i would say that the most i've ever spent in a week was around 2,000 dollars, it was something like this:
new pair of running shoes
last minute flight to spain
ridiculously expensive shared apartment with friends
ridiculously expensive food and drinks
and it was worth every penny to run with the bulls. unfortunately my roomate probaby doenst have the same opinion since he got his face all smashed up. it gave us a good laugh though (after we realized he wasnt dead that is)

Hmmm... this week comes close.
$2800 on concert tickets, airfares, and car repair
But I know I've definitely had worse weeks... Like buying a laptop and going on vacation for 2 weeks after that. My credit card still hasn't forgiven me for that little stretch.

Mine is probably when I bought my RTW ticket a few weeks ago. That was about £1400, plus I'm sure I spent a little more that week on clothes, so I'd say about £1500.

an impromptu night in vegas... gas + VIP room at MGM Grand + food for two + clothes since we weren't planning on driving to vegas until we were in northern arizona with nothing better to do = less than 24 hours in vegas and 1000 bucks poorer....

3 Gs on RL? Man, I'd at least go for something a little more pretentious like Valentino or D&G.
Ummmmm... The first year I started school, I blew my entire financial aid check (about $4500) on clothes, computer accessories, and a new camera.

between 6 guys over the course of 2 nights we racked up a 1600 bar tab. the funny thing is, you'd think they'd give you a few free ones on the house.
oh well

Probably paying cash for a car, but I agree, that doesnt count.
Damn I cant think of anything really excessive. I did spend about 4 grand sans Eurail pass and airline tickets on my first trip to Europe, but that was over 2.5 months.

I paid $1600 CASH for my plane ticket to australia. I felt like a drug dealer or something, carrying that much bank around.
Then there was the day my friend and I went to Brighton when I was living in London. No particular reason, boredom mostly. We get there and realize there's not much to do in Brighton but barhop. Woke up the next morning and realized I'd spent every last cent of my 250 pound paycheck. Gah.

I spent over €1200 when I stayed in Amsterdam for a week, I was staying at a campsite that cost €7 a night then the flying pig. I'm not to sure what I was spending the money on but I kept finding all sorts of drugs in my backpack over the next two weeks in different countrys.
I'll be back there next Friday at 9am to do it all over again I just found out the factory forgot to pay me €600 and it's been deposited into my account just in time for the Dam.

the most I've ever spent while on holidays was when I went to europe with my parents and they paid for all the food and accomodation and everything - I spent 500 euro in three weeks just on shopping... thats alot for an aussie schoolgirl, I didn't have a job at the time and the exchange rate was not kind. it was great fun though

Wow, I have always been a frugal little spender...So if houses and cars don't count, I don't think I have too much to add. I always tucked my money away into a little shoe box.

In the last 2 months I've dropped almost $4500 involving my plane ticket, car repair, new washer dryer and don't laugh, gym membership and personal trainer. Believe me, if you knew me you'd kow that I need the trainer to get me into the gym and the gym to let me survive the 3 weeks I'll be spending hiking all over NZ.
As a normally tight fisted person you can imagine how painful it was to write every one of those checks. When the amount doesn't fit on the line alloted...
Shudder.

I am the worst with money. just last month i spent a $1000 on clothes and 19 new pairs of shoes!!! i still haven't worn all of them yet. oh and i LOVE the fake bling from icing and stores like that. the sparklier the better. Oh and when i recieved an insurance settlement ($30,000) i blew it all in about 3 months on absolutly nothing but partying with my friends (good good times!), and all my furniture and stuff. I wish I would have clued in back then about travelling and backpacking.
So you see, saving is sooo hard for me. but now im trying really hard to save for my trip. no more shopping until the fall season.
