Hey all...

I am planning to go to Britain this summer and was wondering if anybody has done SWAP..and if it's just travel agents trying to get into your pockets or if they actually do give you good advice when you arrive. I have about $5000 CAD for my trip of four months...does this seem insanely low even if I will be working for at least half of the time (or try to)?? I am starting out in London but don't plan on staying since it's so expensive, and go somewhere like Brighton to find work and travel on days off, etc

Any help would be amazing!

Check out this thread in the Intros/Announcements forum, it's from someone who's doing SWAP, so he probably has great advice.

hey, i think i may the person the previous poster is referring too...

anyway, i'm leaving in about 3 weeks, so won't know for sure if it was worth it or not till i get there, but from what i've read/heard, about $350 of the $500 fee i paid was to actually pay for the visa so an extra the $150 was worth it considereing all the help i've gotten/will get...

if your low on cash but want to see lots of stuff, living in london and flying with ryanair can't be beat, just find some cheap flat (average is supposedly 90 pounds), work lots of hours and make 200-300 pounds/week, and you've saved up enough money to go on a couple day trip every few weeks (london > rome less then $75 on ryanair, same for paris/barcelona/etc...), then after a couple months of that, quit the job and travel europe with the money you allready have.

good luck
