Well I gotta say I am a little frustrated. I just finished rolling all the coins I have been saving since the start of this. I would literally empty my coin purse in my wallet at the end of every day into my change jar. Including toonies and loonies. A lot of them. Toonies and loonies REALLY add up. Anyway...the sticky fingered little stepsisters have obviously found my hiding spot and helped themselves to my money because there was only ONE toonie in the jar today. And there should have been a lot more. Anyway...I am taking to the bank about 60 bucks. Like I said, it would have been probably closer to a hundred, but I think that the money I am missing was long ago spent at the candy store by one of my stepsisters. Lovely.

It's a good thing I am the kinda person that just gets mad, rather than even!* :greenguy:*

Thus...the duct tape! It's import to cover every square inch of it so you can't see it or won't be tempted by it....neither will your sticky fingered little stepsisters .

Wow, that sucks Brooke. I really am sorry to hear that. It just is hard to get ahead when those around you are holding you back.

Shitty Benna! If it's any condolence, what was left of my $ after sec deposit disappered one evening. I think it had something to do with a beer run. I suck at saving.

I've been putting a percentage of my paychecks into an account I set up that is only going to be used for TRAVEL. I've been doing it for just a couple months as well as adding all my rolled change to it. It's up to just over $500....so hopefully it will keep growing...

Today I took out all the change from my jar and went to the coinstar machine and had it convert it into bills for me. I just figured it was easier to do it now in parts rather than later. Plus seeing the bills in there really kind of made me realize how quick it is adding up.

Since starting this I had saved about $35 bucks or so in change. Not a bad start. I also toss in bills in there sometimes so the numbers are actually adding up pretty well. There may be about $100 or more in there now.

Sweet SuDz! I never really liked those coinstar machines though... they take like... 10% off right? As a fee? But I guess it's easier than taking them all to the bank...

My mom saw how serious I was about saving for my trip (the trip my younger sister is so quick to shoot down) and is now doing something similar where she saves just coins and won't open the can for the next 2 years (whoa i remember first planning this december of 2004 and thinking four years... too creepy...).

She's also been counting about how much money i've added (the bills i mean... i add about .75 each day btw... too lazy to report it ) and according to her i have well over $100... those 80ish dollars i added earlier helped a bit i think

Thanks. The coinstar machines charge about 9 cents onthe dollar. Sure it takes some away from me but I figure that by the time I would buy the rolls for the cois, then get to actually have time to roll them then actually make it to a bank during banking hours, it would be forever. For the few bucks it costs (like $3) the coinstar charged me the same and I have my money in hand.

It's just the price of convienience I guess. Also if i roll it every 30 bucks or so and only see like 2 -3 bucks at a time gone, I will feel much better than if I waited and saw coinstar charge me like 10 or 15. It's a mental thing I guess.

Good job, Julia! Great to see it rubbing off on your younger sis! It's a great habbit to develop in your younger years. This will make more sense to you when you get my age .

I hear you about the convenience, Sudz .

The rest of y'allz, stay focused !

Did a really rough count, and as far as the bills are concerned, there is definitely close to $200 in bills in my pot, in addition to the coins.

Add me to todays list of $5 contributors !

Well I went ahead and tossed about another $4 in last night. It is starting to get to numbers that sound like they will come in handy once the time comes. It would be one thing to be like "Oh, an extra $50 to help out." but to be able to say "Oh man, I got about $400 in here now." is a whole different story. That is where the ticket will seem like it is getting closer and closer to free.

yeah! I thought that part of this was that you didn't see it. or atleast it's taped, so you shouldn't be able to count it either. it makes it that much more exciting when the time finally comes for your vacation.

i put in $25 yesterday. and i'll go throw 5 more in right now.

I think the reason it is taped up so much is so that people don't get tempted.

Our of sight, out of mind.

Another couple bucks in between today and yesterday. Mostly just change but it added up to about 5 bucks or so.

So are you guys noticing the boxes or jars or whatever getting heavier?

Good job people! No more saving for me these days. I am living on very little cash though and banking all of my paychecks. So that still counts I guess.

Keep tossing in the money though! It will come in handy one of these days....
