Just checked it.
1 USD = 1.21 Euro

So...the 1 million dollar (822,774 Euro) question...

How much should I bring for each day?

Forget about hostels. I've got that cost figured already.
How much for food and transportation and personal expenses.
I don't want to hit the bars/pubs/clubs too much...not much of a partier.

This seriously needs to be a running topic.

Well if you got your Hostels covered thats about 25-35E off the top...

I would but your costs in the area of 50E a day, for food, transport on Public Transit, and some sights...Keep in mind, differentr countries will either make you Euro go far or really cramp your wallet..IE Spain will be cheaper than France, Netherlands will be cheaper than Switzerland...You get the idea...Transport between cities and countries will cost a bit too if you do not have that covered...I did not include that...

Another factor is what type of food you are looking for? If you shop at grocery stores, this will be your cheapest option and under ten euro a day. If you eat at food stands or take aways, then you are looking at about ten euro or a little more per day (for shoarma like places). If you want to eat at restaurants, this will be more, but it depends on the country like Canadian Dude wrote. If you go out to Eastern Europe you can eat two meals a day at a restaurant for about ten euro.

If you let us know how many days and where you are going, we should be able to give you a pretty good figure on how much to bring.

2 Days in Normandy.

5 days in Prague

5 days in Berlin

a few more days scattered across Germany.

I've planned on Normandy being more expensive than the rest, so I'll limit myself there.

But how expensive are Prague and Berlin?

Especially Prague since they entered the EU.

Prague is still very cheap, by American standards, but costs can add up quickly. You should be able to eat very good meals out for about $5-$7 a meal, and it is half that if you are outside of the city center. Transportation is very cheap. I think metro and tram tickets are only like $.30

Berlin is cheaper and much more interesting in the section that used to be East Berlin. Meal prices range here but you can go as low as $2 for a doner kebab or if you are looking at a restaurant, it is more around $8-$10 a meal. There are a lot of places to choose from so you will have many pricing options. Restaurants in West Berlin are more expensive. Transportation tickets cost around $2-$3 each, but you can buy an all day pass for the price of two or three tickets.

These are the prices that I had when I was in these cities earlier this year, so Prague might have gone up a little since the Czech Republic joined the EU, but it will still be cheap. I have not been to the other cities that you have mentioned.
